The 2000’s

As John Meunier steps down after 15 years as dean, the Master of Architecture program is ranked #1 in the western U.S. by "Design Intelligence" and the Master of Real Estate (MRED) is established. In 2003 Wellington “Duke” Reiter is appointed as the College’s fifth dean. The College of Architecture and Environmental Design is renamed the College of Design and eventually becomes The Design School as it merges with the Herberger College of the Arts forming the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. As director, Darren Petrucci encourages interdisciplinary collaboration.
