- Community Service in a Desert Environment: The Rio Salado Project—a concept developed in an ASU Architecture studio—transformed a dry riverbed into an amenity in Tempe and Phoenix and is expanding into other Valley areas. ASU Architecture continues to improve the region’s livability and economy through focused initiatives such as canal bank revitalization, affordable housing, renewed town centers, and innovative project delivery.
- Stimulating Ideas and Research: Arizona State University’s nationally recognized sustainability practices are rooted in ASU Architecture’s early solar energy research which has matured into substantial research on energy standards, comfort measures, use of shade, and environmentally sensitive design.
- Student-centered Instruction: From the ASU campus to every continent, ASU Architecture graduates’ work has made the built environment more sustainable, more livable, more beautiful, and more environmentally appropriate. The program continues to evolve to meet the needs of today’s students and society.
