ASU Enters U.S. Solar Decathlon

Under the leadership of Phil Horton, ASU and University of New Mexico students design and construct the prototype model home SHADE (Solar Homes Adapting for Desert Equilibrium) as a joint entry into the U.S. Department of Energy's 2013 Solar Decathlon, a biannual international competition for net-zero homes with integrated photovoltaics and other sustainable features and technologies.
