David Scheatzle

David Scheatzle came to the architecture program after a 20-year military career to teach courses in energy, acoustics and engineering. He served as associate dean from 1996 to 2000. His research included energy simulation, residential comfort control, radiant cooling and thermal energy storage. He led the design and implementation of a five-million-gallon thermal storage system under ASU's playing fields, which has saved the university millions of dollars. He is one of the founders of the Rio Salado Architecture Foundation and guides its continuing mission of financially supporting ASU Architecture.
