Fellowship Honors Jeffrey Cook
After Jeffrey Cook’s unexpected death, the Regents Professor Jeffrey Cook Fellowship is established to honor his pioneering work in bio-climatic design. The solar house he designed and built was one of the first examples of solar passive energy in Arizona and received international recognition. He was an energy advisor to the U.S. Government, the founding editor of “Passive Solar Journal,” and the first president of the Passive Low Energy Association (PLEA). He traveled widely and collaborated with colleagues all over the world. Cook was named an ASU Regents Professor in recognition of his many international honors, his numerous publications, and his ability to connect environmentally-responsive architecture with vernacular architecture and tribal cultures. The Cook Fellowship continues to be awarded annually.
