Hugh Burgess

Hugh Burgess was the architecture program's second dean. During his tenure, he created three departments within the College of Architecture, and "U.S. News & World Report" included ASU's MArch program in its top 20 list. He placed major focus on the program's solar energy research by supporting the research of faculty members John Yellott, Jeffrey Cook, and others, championing construction of the Solar Demonstration House on campus, and encouraging students to highlight solar energy when they hosted the 1975 national American Institute of Architecture Students conference on campus.
