John Yellott

John Yellott, an internationally renowned solar energy pioneer, brought energy and solar research to the architecture program. He began his career in academia and worked on the Manhattan Project during World War II. After the war, he turned to solar energy and co-founded the Association for Applied Solar Energy, which organized the international Living with the Sun competition in Phoenix in 1957. While he developed and led the graduate program in solar energy at ASU, he also maintained a robust consulting firm that resulted in more than 50 patents.
