Rushia Fellows Memorialized
1991
Milestones
The Rushia G. Fellows Minority Scholarship is established in memory of Fellows, a faculty member and advisor who died in 1990. Lorenzo Perez, who goes on to become a prominent Phoenix developer, receives the first scholarship. From 1991 to 1993, the endowment also sponsors an annual lecture bringing these African-American speakers to campus: Jack Travis '77, alumnus and consultant on Spike Lee's film "Jungle Fever"; J. Eugene Grigsby III, UCLA professor of urban planning; Max Bond, partner, Davis Brody & Associates; and Norma Merrick Sklarek of SOM and Gruen, one of the first African-American women architects.
